High-Tech Solutions for High-Tech Stress

By Patrick K. Porter, Ph.D. | March 7, 2009

We are in an era where almost everything is technology driven. Come to think of it, even the issues that are being faced today like Green house effect, Pollution, cyber crimes, etc also have a significant association with technology. Everybody is in pursuit of technology driven materialistic contentment which is ever elusive. This leads to stress, physical and mental.

Following the age old practices in handling stress works, but it has to be customized to suit the current trend, where the user is able to relate to the concept, scientifically. Bridging the chasm between traditional practice and modern technology is of utmost importance to be able to cater to this stressed out population.

In 1839 binaural beats were discovered by H. W. Dove. He observed that when two different tones are heard by each ear, results in a third sound of a different frequency compared to the original sounds. But further developments were not visible till 1973, till the publication of an article by Gerald Oster. He viewed binaural beats as a tool for cognitive and neurological research. Osters publication of Auditory Beats in the Brain, launched a wave of new research into frequency following response.

At Light & Sound Research, it was found that combining the two awesome powers of light and sound could move the human body to more profound levels of relaxation which facilitates accelerated healing. But to be able to achieve a proper marriage of sound and light, advances in technology was the chief broker.

This led to the development of Sensory Input Learning System or SILS for short. Scientific experiments over the years have observed the effects of light on the human psyche. For example, in an experiment conducted by French physician Pierre Janet, it was noted that when patients were exposed to certain type of flickering lights, there was a significant reduction in hysteria and increase in relaxation. Further studies by other scientists also concluded that proper utilization of light can have a profound effect on limiting depression related symptoms. As for the effects of sound, everybody is aware of the relaxation power of music.

To be able to help his patients better, Dr. Patrick Porter combined SILS with CVR. Using this has helped people to change their lifestyles for the better. People who thought they would never be able to quit their addictions to smoking and drinking were able to give-up their addiction. Dieters were motivated to follow their diet without wavering and professionals were able to achieve higher sales and others were able to pull of some major deals.

In this combination of SILS and CVR, the sub-conscious mind is activated, which helps in maintaining a positive mindset. In reality, the mindset plays a major role in analyzing the events. The thought process during a negative mindset state is very different than during a positive mindset state. Quite obviously, a positive mindset is the preferred state of mind. The thoughts, actions and decisions are definitely on the favorable side with the backing up of positive thoughts or mindset.
