If You Want To Get Your Ex Back Then You Must Read This!

By Benjamin Wise | January 29, 2010 | Popularity: 1% (?)

It’s a harsh reality that breaking up with a loved one hurts. It’s been proven that break-ups can even have very real physical effects including stomach pain, weight loss, headaches, and fatigue. So it’s natural that a person who recently suffered a break up would want to anything they could to stop the pain–and in most cases, this means getting their ex back.

Although the circumstances of a break up can vary widely from couple to couple, there are a few simple measures you can take to help get your ex back.

The first requires some introspection on your part. The intensely emotional nature of most break-ups almost inevitably leads the person who’s been broken up with to leap to conclusions about their ex. It is essential that you do not do this.

Once you have identified areas in which you can improve, it’s time to take responsibility for them. Tell you ex what you have discovered, but be sure to do it in such a way you are not qualifying it by blaming the root action on them. Saying, “I messed up but it was all your fault” does not come across as a reconciliation, it sounds like an accusation. Obviously, no one is going to want to get back with a person telling them its all their fault (think of it this way, if your ex said something like that to you, how would you feel?).

That doesn’t mean taking the blame for everything that went wrong, however. If you do feel as though your ex could improve the relationship through their actions, tell them so, but so do diplomatically and with as little judgment as possible.

But all that is only half the battle, of course. Good communication is the key getting your ex to a place where they feel comfortable taking you back. So be sure to listen to their side, too. Although you may not like what they have to say, you’ll learn more by not interrupting and not taking everything as personally.

That means taking some time out for yourself and reflecting on the issues your ex may have pointed out to you. Do you think they are things you can improve? Are they asking you change a habit or pattern, or are they asking you to change who you are?

This leads to the next point, give your partner space, do not come off as demanding or like lost puppy seeking attention. This screams of insecurity and dependency. To conclude, keep communication open, give your ex space, talk to key mutual friends to get other perspectives on the matter, go speak with your ex and listen, then go home and think about it – do not react then and there. Take responsibility for your actions and deal with the challenge head on.
