Recording Christmas

By J Gardener | January 30, 2010

Every parent understands the importance of Christmas morning in a child’s life. It’s the goal of most moms and dads to help St. Nick make the day as perfect as they can. The joy a child expresses at finding the mound of toys and goodies left under the tree by Santa Claus is something that makes every parent smile. Every Christmas is the same, for most parents-they want it to be perfect, for their kids.

As families grow, their Christmas celebrations change and adapt. As the years pass, families find ways to make each Christmas mornings more fulfilling and more special than the last, even if they become a bit more subdued. But the excitement of those first few Christmases as a family, will always live on as wonderful memories.

Many families keep past Christmases alive by finding special ways to record their celebrations. Whether families use photos or videos, or even just audio recordings, there are many different easy-to-use media available, with which to permanently preserve those special moments.

Most families have some sort of video-recording camera or device. These cameras, today, require almost no skill or effort to run, and can easily be set up, out of the way, in a place that can record a family’s entire Christmas morning at the tree. DVD’s or mini-tapes are easy to store, and easy to edit, later, into special Christmas videos.

Today’s digital photo cameras are simple and easy to use, as easy as point-and-shoot, in most cases. Many families prefer photos to videos, especially when recording each other, first thing on Christmas morning, while everyone is still in bathrobes and pajamas. The resulting photo collections can heartwarming as well as very funny, especially if everyone agrees that the photographer must not edit out any pictures.

Generations from now, the descendants of today’s families will appreciate the fact that someone took the time and effort to record their ancestors at such a joyful time as Christmas morning.
