What Women Should Know About Yeast Infections

By Keke Lexmarkton | June 5, 2009 | Popularity: 1% (?)

Getting a yeast infection is an unfortunate side effect of being a woman, and most people pass it off as an unavoidable occurrence. Its an uncomfortable topic, as is anything that deals with the vagina, so people don’t normally like to talk about it.

Simply put, there is hope for women with yeast infections, and there are natural ways that we can all cure and even help prevent yeast infections from happening again. Even if its hard to talk about, women need to know how to help themselves when a yeast infection shows up.

The first step in finding the right cure is to figure out if you have a yeast infection at all. The most common sign of an infection is vaginal burning or itching. If it feels like you have a rash on your vagina or it hurts to pee, chances are you have a yeast infection.

Other common indicators include sensitivity during intercourse and strong odors of the vagina. Essentially, any unnatural pain or smell is a clue that you may have a yeast infection. That doesn’t mean that every odor and irritation has to be a yeast infection, but it is highly likely.

If a woman does have a yeast infection, there are some simple measures she can take to cure the infection. Unsweetened yogurt is the fastest method. She just needs to apply it directly to the vagina so the bacteria from the yogurt can kill the infection. The sugars in sweetened yogurt only make the infection worse, so its important to use nothing but the unsweetened kind.

The looser the clothing you can wear, the better. As oxygen passes across the yeast, it kills parts of the infection. You’ll need to let your vagina breath to get the fastest result. If you live alone, feel free to walk around the house without bottoms on. You may feel strange at first, but you’ll be able to see a drastic improvement in your infection.

Chronic cases of yeast infections are usually the result of bacterial deficiencies in a woman body. Taking supplements or eating foods rich in have acidophilus and probiotics are good preventative measures. These bacterium, like those found in yogurt, are good for the body and help fight off yeast infection before they happen.

It isn’t hard to treat a yeast infection, it just hard to find information about it. Taking the correct measures at the first indication of an infection can drastically lessen the irritations associated with yeast infections. A woman can take control of her comfort, and all it takes is a few household items and a little intuition.
