Bodybuilding Supplement Misconceptions

By William Engle | January 11, 2009

For those not in the know, there are a lot of misconceptions about bodybuilding supplements. A lot of people think that these supplements are going to make them fat, make them loose their edge or make any muscle growth slow down. In fact, all of these misconceptions are just that – misconceptions. Heres the truth behind several of the bodybuilding supplement misconceptions.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements will make you gain weight. One of the biggest misconceptions about a lot of the bodybuilding supplements out there is that they are going to put the pounds on you. When you read the ingredients list of a lot of supplements, one of the common ingredients is sugar. Dont worry, because if you work out a lot lifting weights and training, you are going to need this extra sugar in your bloodstream, so you wont gain a lot of fat. If you dont get enough sugar, you are going to find that you arent making progress and you feel like you dont have a lot of energy left over. Bodybuilding supplements are going to give you the right amount of energy to keep your workouts intense and not cause you to gain fat. If you are still concerned, find a supplement that doesnt have any sugar in it.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements are addicting. Many people think that bodybuilding supplements are like drugs – if you use supplements, you arent going to be able to gain muscles if you ever stop using them. Of course, this is totally false. The truth is that most bodybuilders choose not to stop taking supplements because they like what they do to their bodies and they love the muscles that are a result of the supplements. If you want to get the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs through a better diet, you can stop taking your supplements at any time. The purpose of supplements is to make sure that your body has the right nutrition to grow muscle mass quickly. Of course you can get stronger without supplements, but it is easier with them.

Misconception: Bodybuilding supplements arent good for your body. Some bodybuilders think that taking supplements are not going to be good for your body, and this statement can be true if you take the wrong supplement. There are supplements out there for bodybuilders that are so full of junk that they are going to be unhealthy, although they will probably build muscle very quickly. To make sure that your supplements are safe, choose a company that is reliable and that you trust. You can relax knowing that this supplement is going to be right for your body.

There are a lot of misconceptions about bodybuilding supplements. Sure, there are some supplements that are not going to work for you, but when you find the best supplement for your body and one that will help you achieve your goals, youre going to realize it is worth its weight in gold. Bodybuilding supplements are an important tool for those bodybuilders who are serious about looking their best, gaining muscle mass and taking bodybuilding to the next step.
