Points To Be Considered By An Electrician

By Scott Rodgers | January 30, 2010

Electricity in a home is a basic requirement, so is it’s maintenance. For this purpose we need a electrician. Now for our safeguard we should call a electrician who has good knowledge in the field. The selection of electrician should be done very cautiously.

The biggest thing to be taken care of is to gauge a wire. If the electrician will use a thin wire gauge at a place where thick one is required, it may cause overheating of wire or short circuit in the connection which could further result in a fire.

Switches in the house should be checked against loose connection. Sometimes, we notice spark coming from a switch when we on/off the switch. This kind of malfunctioning should be repaired as soon as possible.

During cables fixing, the wires should be properly checked against any rip. The cable should be sealed in a thick tube or anything like that to protect it from external cuts or damage.

There is a single point from where all the wires and connections are controlled. This central point of wires should be insulated by a safety box. However the count of wires and connections controlled from a single point is limited to certain number depending on some facts and figures. If the electrician tries to extend from the limit, the result could be disastrous.

Connections should be done with a wire of proper length and if wires are short than required, they should be extended. Connections should be proper. Wires should not be stretched very tightly that cause a breakdown or upset the connection.

Now a days, under wall or underground wiring is preferred. Electricians should take care of wire and connections while doing this kind of wiring against any wear and tear. This kind of wiring is most safe, as it is away from all the external consequences.

To conclude, these are some of the basic precautions that each electrician should keep in mind while performing the required job. We also need to cross check with the electrician we are appointing whether he has appropriate knowledge or not.
