Tips on Purchasing Tech Upgrades for Your Home
By Jason Thomas_ | December 29, 2009
Every year, if not more often, there are newer, more advanced versions of every tech item you can think of hitting the market. For example, consider the cell phone industry. Cell phone manufacturers are constantly introducing new cell phones that are technologically superior to their previous models. If you want to keep up with the latest cell phone technology you will be spending quite a bit of money, but if you were to purchase a model that has recently been replaced by a newer model, then you may be able to save money on a good phone.
If you are looking to upgrade your home entertainment experience, for example, there is no need to purchase the newest model of HDTV that has hit the market, since the only thing that will get you is a smaller balance in your bank account. While the newest HDTVs do offer exceptional sound and picture quality, your can get a slightly older model of HDTV that stll provides an excellent quality at a lower price. Actually the best time to get a deal on an HDTV is when the new models come out, and last years models have to be discounted because of these new models.
TV’s are exactly the same and when the newest of the new are released, there is nothing wrong with saving a few bucks and checking out the older models. They still offer great HD experiences, but at a fraction of the cost. Make sure that they are on sale because the new models are out and not because they are just crappy TV’s. You can check rating and review online to see what other customers say about that particular product.
Another way to save money when purchasing an HDTV is to purchase the floor model. Most floor models are in good condition, and can be purchased at a discount. If the model you are looking at is on sale, purchasing the floor model is a great way to get an additional discount. A retailer will only sell the floor model if that model is being eliminated, and replaces with a newer model. If you see that an HDTV is on sale then you should look online to see if the manufacturer is replacing the model with a newer one. If this is the case you may be able to get even more savings if the retailer is willing to sell the floor model.
There are many ways to keep up with the best electronic gear, you just have to do a little leg work and not be the kind of person that has to have the newest thing right away. If you can wait just a little while, you can save a whole bunch of money. Remember, when plasma screens first came out, a 32 inch was three or four thousand dollars. Not they are under five hundred in some cases.
