Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) is a W3C standard mark-up language for defining the appearance of web pages. The use of CSS allows developers to fully separate the content of the page from its presentation, speeding up the development process and also making the pages load more quickly in the browser. Whereas 20th century websites typically used tables to construct web pages and position elements, CSS now provides a cleaner and more efficient way of controlling all aspects of web page layout.

ASP.NET master pages are a powerful feature which allows developers to create template-like pages which contain information that is common to all pages in a site or all pages in one section of a site such as corporate logo, company information, headers, footers and navigation links. Content pages can then be created which are based on the master page(s). Master pages use the file extension ".master" which is automatically protected by the server and cannot therefore be downloaded by clients.

There are two types of server control in ASP.NET: HTML server controls and Web server controls. HTML server controls are simply regular web elements into which the runat="server" attribute has been added and which have been assigned an ID. Accessibility, in the context of websites, refers to the degree to which the content you add to your web site can be accessed by your audience; all of them, not just the able bodied ones and those with 20/20 vision. Accessible websites offer good support for screen readers, cater for users who browse the web without viewing graphics and who wish to magnify the text on your pages to a level comfortable for their eyesight.
