With hardness on the Mohs for Emeralds scale is 7.5; so their brittleness is classified as quite poor. However emeralds has many color of green and blue-green. and has a large spectrum of clarity, from crystal clear to nearly opaque which rely on the inclusions and fractures in the crystal.
