Many potential clients will locate a new company via the telephone. This is why it is so important to convey good telephone sales tips to your employees at all times. Their verbal telephone sales and skills may account for a great portion of your company business, and you must ensure that these contacts meet your high expectations. During staff education sessions always relay positive telephone sales tips to your sales team members, and in turn, you will see their verbal telephone skills and sales increasing in a positive manner.
First, emphasize to your employees to always regard all clients with kindness and courtesy, whether they are with them in the store, out in the field, or over the phone. A good telephone sales tip to pass along is to behave with a client over the phone as if they are with you face to face.
Another tip for verbal telephone sales is to remain interested in your customer, no longer how long the conversation goes. Remain pleasant and helpful until the completion of the conversation.
One should also refrain from annoying habits such as eating or chewing gum while on the phone with a client. Again, always pretend you are face to face with a big account.
Stress to sales team members that phone time is not the time to drop the ball. One should push just as hard for the sale over the phone as he or she would in person.
Convey to the clients their importance to you by emphasizing that you realize how valuable their time is. They, in turn, will extend the same courtesies to you.
Refrain from putting them off by doing things such as continually putting them on hold or answering other lines. Let a prospective client know that you realize how valuable their time is.
People will like what they hear on the other end when calling your company, and will show their appreciation for your knowledge and courtesy by opening an account with you. They will also relay positive word of mouth to others, who may in turn come to you for the help they need.
