Is a day spa business right for you? It really depends on what your business goals are. You have to be dedicated to customer service with a day spa more than you are with many other types of businesses. Every customer that comes in expects to be well taken care of from the moment they enter the business. This is part of the magic of going to a day spa and you can be sure those businesses that offer it will keep the largest portion of customers.
Even if you don't personally have the skills to perform the various procedures that take place in a day spa you can have a good business. You will need to decide how large of a day spa you want to offer. Do you want to limit it to a handful of procedures or do you want to offer a full line? Do you want to have a large facility so you can take care of many customers at once? You may find a smaller setting works better for you but keep in mind it can prevent customers from getting appointments for a while.

In addition having the right certificates and licenses to perform the procedures they need to have a very friendly manner. While you may be impressed with how someone interviews for a position with your day spa, you need to find out for yourself what they can do. This is somewhat non traditional when it comes to a job interview, but finding out exactly what the customer can expect from them is the best way to know. Generally, you won't ask them to do the procedure on you unless you are one step away from hiring them. Be prepared to pay good wages for qualified employees as well.
The overall experience of personal attention and being pampered is what a good quality day spa is all about. It is the combined efforts of offering customers the treatments they want, providing extra amenities to them at no cost, and being extremely helpful when it comes to their questions. Everything from the way they are greeted at the door to the way the day spa is set up will impact the experience they have while at the facility. It is your job as the owner to make sure it is always beyond what they expected.
Personalized service is vital to the success of a day spa. Take the time to identify the personal needs of your customers. As they come back again and again you will be able to remember what they like. They will appreciate this personal service and it will make them even more loyal to your day spa business. Ask them for suggestions too so you can make changes as needed. Maybe the selection of music isn't something they enjoy as you thought they would.
A day spa also have to pay close attention to sanitation issues. You can find out all of the specifics from your local health department. They will assist you with getting the paperwork filed you need for permits and licensing in the area. They will also do routine inspections of the facility so always stay on top of things. You owe it to your customers to offer them a very clean facility to come to for their own personal needs.
The number of people that don't take time for themselves is very high, but if you offer a quality day spa business they will definitely be tempted. Offer some great specials to get them to come in and see what you are all about. Getting customers in the door is the hard part so do all you can to promote your day spa business. You will find many of them are eager to come back again after that first initial visit to your day spa.
