The Scam of Duplicating Websites
By: Brett Smith
In this day and age many people looking to start their own businesses and become their own boss are turning to the internet. Whether you are starting a MLM, affiliate marketing or an independent business the key to using the internet is to generate traffic to your website that will lead to sales. There are many different products and tools that you can use to do this. One product that you see promoted frequently are self replicating business opportunity websites. Be careful.
If you're in business for yourself, this means that part of the attraction is that you have control over what happens to you, right? However, self-replicating web sites are absolutely identical to hundreds or thousands of others, because they're given to every other member of the same program you're involved in. The only difference between your page and any other affiliate's is that your e-mail address and your affiliate number are going to be different. People erroneously buy self-replicating web sites because they think that it will help them increase traffic and increase their Web presence. However, if you use one of these sites, you are actually hurting your marketing program. Why?
A few years ago, replicating web sites did everything they said they were going to do. It was a very easy way to get your business, your name, or your service a high ranking in the search engines so that when someone did a search with your keywords, yours would be one of the first sites to come up. However, the search engines caught onto this and thought that this was an unfair advantage to have. So they set out to even the playing field.
So what the search engines did was give poor ranking to any site that was submitted that exactly matched the content of another site that was already indexed in that particular search engine. The search engines are still improving on ways to get rid of replicated websites, which for you means that are loosing not only ranking but a lot of traffic, which equals a lot of sales gone before you ever could get them.
Now that you have a better understanding of why the search engines don't want your self replicating site, let's explore why you shouldn't waste your money or time with one. First, a self replicating site can not be managed by you. There is no way for you to improve or test the site. You have no way to alter the site or ad any other types of advertising to them. Unfortunately there is also no way for you to track you page. Instead of setting up a plan for success you have plotted a path of failure committing what we like to term internet suicide.
If you truly want to succeed on the Internet, build your own web site, unique to you. Then, use what is called targeted effective search engine advertising. This will help drive traffic to your own, unique site, which in turn will attract sales and thus, greater success to you.
