The Only

By: Kirt Christensen

Are you constantly searching for the "Holy Grail" of Internet Marketing? Instead of falling prey to every new "shiny object" the comes out, you need to actually do something!

Sure, there are great techniques you could be using. I am sure there are products out there which will teach you how to market better online. You should always be learning. The moment you stop learning, you start stagnating.

You will find that many of the techniques that the top experts teach you may actually disagree with one another. This is because there is only one true judge of what works in the online marketplace...testing and results.

Without testing, you'll never know which marketing techniques work for you.

There is one "Secret" of Internet marketing every single successful Internet marketer will agree upon.

If you sit on your butt and do nothing, you will get nothing in return!

Successful Internet entrepreneurs are doing something. If you sit back on the sidelines and just watch what's going on, you will never win the game.

Start doing something...even if it doesn't work!

Marketing online takes a lot of "practice".

If you want to write better ads, study copywriting, and then take action by testing what you've learned against your existing sales letters.

A simple fact that almost no one seems to mention is that even some of the most successful companies in the world only expect one out of seven products they create to be a success.

Claude Hopkins, considered to be one of the fathers of direct response marketing said this in his book "Scientific Advertising":

"There are many surprises in advertising. A project you will laugh at may make a great success. A project you are sure of may fall down. All because tastes differ so. None of us know enough peoples desires to get an average viewpoint."

The first website you create might not be a success, or profitable. If you're smart, and stay in the game, in contact with the right people you will learn something from it. The next website venture may be the success that you've been hoping for.

The reason your current site isn't making any money, could be the wrong product or the wrong market. If you can't explain to me in one sentence who your target market is, then you're not ready for success.

Test different products. Test different markets. Test different advertising mediums and methods. Test different ads. Only through testing can you tell what will work for you.

The key is to keep your testing small so that it doesn't cost you an arm and a leg. Test one or two ezine ads. Purchase a 10,000 banner ad campaign. Start a PPC campaign.

Set aside a small budget of say $100-$500 every month just for testing.

It should be a small amount, that won't put you out of business if the test fails.

If you can't afford to spend or lose any money in advertising, then start trying free traffic techinques.

There's dozens of great free techniques that you can use. However, never spend more time on them than you can afford to lose.

Time and money are essentially the same thing, as you become more successful, time is the resource that you can never replace.

The Secret to Internet marketing is to "Do Something."

If your tests don't work out, you've learned something, try something else.

The second secret of Internet marketing is similar to the first. It's "Don't give up!"
