The Most Beautiful Tattoo There Is

By: James Beckett

One of the fun things about tattoos is seeing other people check them out. Sometimes that tattoo is only for a sweetheart or someone who can see it in a private location on your body. And other times you want that tattoo out for the world to see because it says something about you or makes a philosophical statement for the world to know about. That is why it's good to do some research and find out the meaning and cultural significance of many of the popular tattoo designs that we have to choose from.

If you see someone else with a great tattoo, that curiosity you feel makes you want to find out why they chose it and what meaning the pattern has both historically and to the wearer. Maybe that is why tattoos that are images from the cultures of the Far East are so popular. They often have such a great legacy of symbolism to them. That is certainly true of the cherry blossom pattern which comes down to us from China and Japan.

For one thing, the cherry blossom tattoo design is a beautiful choice for a ladies tattoo pattern. As a woman, getting a tattoo can simultaneously be a cool thing to do and another way to "wear" something beautiful and feminine and the orange blossom design is a perfect fit for that motivation. That is because we know that in China, the orange blossom is a strong symbol of not only the value of femininity to society but of your strength and sexuality as well. Your orange blossom tattoo is a great statement of the strength of womanhood and your independence as a woman as well while still being beautiful and feminine at the same time, just like you are.

When we add the symbolism that the Japanese culture puts on the orange blossom, the pattern becomes a great choice for guys or gals because in Japan the orange blossom speaks of the spiritual and philosophical hunger of a seeker of truth. In nature, the orange blossom is perfect but only for few days and as such it's a perfect artistic symbol of how short the beauty of life is and that we all must value every day we are given of this wonderful world.

People outside of the culture don't always understand why we call our tats body art. But we know that tattoos are way of expressing symbolism, deeply philosophical concepts and beauty like other forms of art do. And the cherry blossom is one of many great images to express these concepts. The Japanese symbolism of the cherry blossom that has just fallen to the snow is a moving symbol how short the time of perfection known as "youth" is and how fast that time of life passes away. And that simple but elegant picture of a colorful orange blossom laying in the virgin snow is full of symbolic meaning that can make us all reflect on the nature of the passing of youth in our own lives but how in nature, new life comes back with each spring. That's a lot of meaning to put into your tattoo.

In oriental culture, the young male warrior is another artistic image of youth, beauty and strength. And especially in Japanese culture, the gentle courage of the orange blossom to emerge at the height of perfection only to fall to the ground so quickly is an artistic symbol of the valor of the warrior.

Because the orange blossom is such a simple and elegant statement of fallen youth, it is often a way of honoring the passing of a particular youth, perhaps a young person whose time on earth was too short. But another approach to this use of the orange blossom tattoo is to honor ones own youth which was beautiful and delightful for a short time and then it too "passed away" to yield to the gentle beauty of age.

There are a lot of great designs to choose from when considering a tattoo. But for an elegant and beautiful design that also brings with it layers of depth of meaning and symbolism, you can't beat the orange blossom design. It's classy and gorgeous for that lady who wants to make a statement on femininity and strong and regal for the guy who wants a tattoo that is rich with meaning.
