The Many Functions Of A Coffee Shop
By: Karyn Lewis
Your favorite coffee shop can become a great place to hang out. I love to drink coffee but I like to visit with people too. I also need to have my own space and quiet time on a regular basis. I have found a coffee shop can offer me all of that so it just depends on what I want on a given day. I definitely enjoy going to a coffee shop for some down time after a hectic day.
A coffee shop provides me with the perfect location to do just that. While most of them are swamped early in the morning, I find the afternoon is the best time to go and find plenty of empty chairs. It is also a great way to get out of the house and away from the work there that I haven't yet finished.
The cost of a cup of coffee is well worth the mental relaxation that I get from the atmosphere. There are a couple of different coffee shops in town that I frequent for such relaxation. Each one has a different feel to it and a different dcor. I tend to choose the one I will visit based on the drink I feel like as well as the mood I happen to be in.
I love to just relax and let time go by as I sit in the coffee shop and read some quality material. Other times I watch the other people busily walking by outside of the coffee shop. I appreciate the fact that I am able to relax for that bit of time instead of rushing around with them. Sometimes I will jot down ideas for work or write letters but for the most part I just steer clear of anything that has to do with work while I am in this type of environment.
I don't always want to go to the coffee shop alone though and that is a choice for you as well. I may invite my spouse, a friend, or even a small group of friends to go with me once in a while. I have to tell you though that I really savor the alone time I get while relaxing at a coffee shop. Therefore I usually go by myself and just hang out for a short period of time. I also don't have to keep an eye on the time to get there promptly to meet others if it is just my day to go alone.
Some individuals are intimidated to enter a coffee shop to just hang out. Yet you need to understand they want you to do so. Otherwise they wouldn't have tables and chairs in the place to relax. You may start to see several familiar faces too when you go to such coffee shops. There are plenty of regulars that stop in for afternoon coffee and some quiet time.
Standing in a long line at a crowded coffee shop in the morning can be stressful. You will find the entire process to be more enjoyable most afternoons. Those long lines will be gone and you won't be watching the clock as you wait for your drink. You can simply relax and savor every drop of what you ordered. You may get a lower price during the afternoon as well which is always a plus.
Coffee shops are great places to hang out so why not see if it is for you? The atmosphere is going to be different than what you see in the morning or even what you see on TV sitcoms. It is going to allow you a place to think, to relax, and to clear your mind. It is also a great place to socialize and to get away from the daily grind.
