The Many Benefits Of Obtaining Concrete Flooring

By: Chris Channing

Concrete floors sound boring at first thought. But advances in concrete flooring techniques have enabled consumers to get a wide variety of options when purchasing a concrete floor to be installed. So how much has technology changed the old subject of concrete, and what can consumers expect from the new technology?

The gray and boring concrete floor is a thing of the past. New technologies have allowed for concrete floors to be stained- meaning that they can be colored, textured, and have patterns applied to them where it was previously not possible. Often times the result of an acid stain is unbelievable to home owners, who have likely never seen a concrete floor with such intricate details and colors. This seeks to fix the fact that many home owners opt for different flooring materials simply because of color or design.

Concrete has long been well known for its anti-allergen compositions. Carpet and other types of flooring commonly carry allergens that can cause flare-ups any season of the year. For allergy sufferers, a concrete floor may be the only solution. And thanks to the new coloring techniques, there will be no lack of style associated with the change in flooring.

Concrete flooring is also considered very expandable, simply because other flooring materials can be placed on top of them. Tiles, carpet, or even hardwood materials can easily be applied on top of a concrete floor to create a new look in a room in a matter of hours of work. Because of the expandability, concrete floors are very popular among home builders.

One often overlooked aspect of concrete flooring is the fact that it is cheap. Carpet and hardwood floors are usually fairly pricey, as they are no easy task in manufacturing and applying to one's home. But concrete is made up of common materials, and is usually fairly easy to apply. Thus, it is often the best choice for thrifty home builders and owners to get an affordable flooring material.

Concrete flooring also gives benefit to areas that have a lot of rain, snow, or sand. Because carpet allows for dirt and other types of unwanted materials to stain, one must always be careful around carpet or the value and look of the room will deteriorate. With concrete, cleaning is as simple as spray washing the area or simply sweeping the excess dirt away.

Lastly, it is important for those who want to create family memories to opt for a concrete flooring in at least one room. This gives a family the chance to acid stain the concrete themselves, and make a lasting impression on the room. If the house needs to be sold, a simple hardwood floor or carpet can be erected over the concrete floor so as to not scare possible sales away.

Concrete flooring, in conclusion, is a very good flooring material to consider when renovating a home or creating a new one. It allows for expandability, and is quite cheap to the builder or home owner. Even more benefit comes through memories and creativity, as acid staining opens up a whole new world in remember the ties with one's family- all because of a simple flooring material!
