The Connection Between Alcohol and Snoring

By: M.L.PRATT

It's nice and relaxing to pop into the tavern at the end of the work day with a few co-workers. You can un-wind over a couple of drinks before going home then to bed. However, That little stop-over at the tavern may be costing you much more than than a couple of bucks. It may be causing you to lose sleep, it could be the reason for your snoring problems.

Alcohol is one cause of snoring. By consuming a few drinks you could be creating your snoring problems. The cause is that while we ingest liquor our muscles become loose, this includes the muscles of the throat. Generally, when a person has drank a couple of cocktails they will slip into a very deep slumber which usually results in very loud snoring. If you've been at a gathering or social event where a individual has drank too much and fallen a sleep, You know exactly what I am saying.

To stop the snoring they need to be aware that their drinking is contributing to the snoring problem. For someone in a relationship, their partner will probably complain enough about the snoring that no other reminder will be necessary. For others, their own snoring may wake themselves up. This can sometimes occur if the snoring is particularly loud and the snorer is sleeping restlessly. They'll find themselves jolted awake and wondering what happened. What happened is that the snoring has startled them enough to wake them from their slumber. It's very hard to know this yourself , after all, how can we hear ourselves snore if we are asleep, especially a very deep sleep that results from the relaxing effects of alcohol.

Another approach to stopping your snoring when it's brought on by drinking is to eat more while you drink. Eating while drinking will help you to absorb less of the alcohol . For someone who snores because of alcohol this can be very significant, it allows them to drink while at the same time, their sleep won't be too deeply affected by snoring.

The easiest way to remedy snoring that is caused by alcohol consumption is to either drink less or in some cases, not drink liquor at all. or another alternative might be to switch to another type of drink. certain beverages contain a higher percentage of alcohol than others. As an example, If you are snoring because you've been drinking a few glasses of wine, switching to beer might greatly improve the situation.

If snoring is a result of that beer that you have with your supper, it could be time to change to a soda or spring water. Weighing the enjoyment of the beer against the prospect of stopping your snoring problem is a private choice.
