The black Pomeranian will make a great family pet. He makes a great small pet for children because he is very sturdy and lightweight. He is a very loyal and watchful dog with a very good nature. He is easily trained with consistency and loves to be walked. The differences between the black Pomeranian and the regular Pomeranian is only in color. The black Pomeranian is a small strong dog with a medium bone structure whose legs are directly proportional to his body size.
The black Pomeranian sometimes gives the appearance of a guard dog because of its coat. Black Pomeranians take longer to groom because the black hair picks up and shows more dirt and, therefore, must be groomed accordingly. These dogs are happy dogs and are highly intelligent. They are very loyal dogs to their owners and can also be quite fierce when necessary. Their training should begin at an early age.
The black Pomeranian is a very active dog and is considered by most to be a bossy dog. They are extremely vivacious and very energetic. They are also very nosy dogs who get themselves into trouble quite regularly because of this nosy attribute. Their tails are set high and curl around to lay flat on the dogs back.
Because of their unusual looking coats they are actually quite beautiful dogs. They range in size from four to seven pounds and typically have very short but sturdy legs. They definitely are not tiny, brittle or wimpy dogs.
The black Pomeranian will have to be groomed more consistently than other color coated Pomeranians simply because black attracts much more dirt. The dirt is also highly more visible on the black Pomeranian. Brushing twice a week is a good idea for the black Pomeranian. The black Pomeranian is the most popular of the breed because of its fun loving temperament and small, but strong stature.
The black Pomeranian is a very good dog. It makes a great companion dog in any environment. It has a pleasant personality and is very intelligent. They are good watch dogs and work very well with children. They are easy to groom with a small brush. They are easy to feed because of their size and they do not eat very much. If they had a choice they would like to be known as lap dogs. Training is imperative for this dog's behavior. He can still be a lap dog, but a trained lap dog.
Hundreds of years ago they were used as guard dogs and herding dogs. They come from Eastern Europe and early accounts have them in Iceland. The red and brown coated Pomeranian is the most recognized and there is not much difference in characteristics between the different color coated dogs except for their color.
They eventually immigrated to Great Britain and for a long while were royal dogs. They were first brought into the American Kennel Club in 1900.
