The Best Ways To Find Cheap Perfume
By: Shauna Moline
If you like to wear the latest perfumes manufactured by celebrities, designers, and cosmetic companies, you know that enveloping yourself in designer scents can be expensive. Many perfumes can cost hundreds of dollars for one ounce and buying additional products can run you into huge dollar figures. But designer perfume doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg. If you know the right places to shop, you can find expensive perfume cheap.
If you want to buy cheap perfume, skip the department stores. Unless you hit a sale at the department stores, you will pay exorbitant amounts for name brand perfumes. Instead of hitting the cosmetics counter at the mall department stores, visit a perfume outlet.
Most of your malls have a perfume outlet inside, but on the off chance they don't, you'll have to drive out to an outlet mall and look for one there. Trust me, the drive will be worth it! Perfume is much cheaper in a perfume outlet, and though they don't always have the accessories provided by other stores (powders, lotions, body washes, etc.), it's still a good bargain.
Most people avoid perfume outlets because they're scared of getting a knock off. A knock off perfume will smell just like its counterpart, but it has a higher alcohol content so it the perfume doesn't last as long, on your wrist or in the bottle. If you're curious, try a bit on and see if it lasts for a while. If it's faded by the time you're done shopping, it might not be the real deal.
Option number 2 is a discount store like Ross, TJ Maxx, or Marshalls. Stores like these specialize in outdated fashions and you can usually get a great deal on last year's popular scents. Make sure you check the bottle to see if it's full, since a lot of these stores leave their perfumes unsupervised.
eBay is becoming a more and more popular alternative for finding discount perfumes. Many people will sell their unwanted perfumes on eBay and they often don't care whether they get the full price for it...they just want something back. This kind of desperation means great deals for you.
Don't ever pay retail price for designer perfume, it's just not worth it. Search around and you're guaranteed to find a better deal. You just have to know where to look.
The easiest way I've found so far is the discount perfume store. It's a store with tons of designer perfumes all in one place, all with low shipping, and best of all, discounted prices (up to 80%). Example - I found a Bvlgari perfume at a popular department store for $130 and then I found that same perfume at a discount perfume store for $53. That's a difference of nearly $100!
