Symptoms of ischemia

Ischemia also known as ischemic cardiomyopathy is a disease seen on patients with congestive heart failure caused by coronary artery disease.
“ischemic” means that the heart isn’t getting an adequate amount of blood and oxygen.
“cardio” means heart.
“myopathy” means a disease that’s related to the muscle.
The most common symptoms of ischemic heart disease are:
*Irregular or rapide pulse
*Heart palpitations-the heart’s rhythm becomes abnormal and you feel like your heart is beating very fast or on the contrary you might feel like your heart stopped. You might feel palpitations in your chest,throat or neck.
*Cough
*Reduced urine output
*Difficulty breathing when you lay down
* Leg swelling and weight gain from heart failure
*Excessive urine otput
*Weakness,fatigue,faintness
*Chest pain-it can be felt under the chest bone or at the neck,back shoulder,arm.
Sometimes this pain may be relieved by nitroglycerin or rest.
Often the first symptom of Ischemic heart disease can be a serious chest pain of myocardial infarction. Many times the first sign occurs in the form of angina pectoris.
Ischemia is a disease that develops slowly,many times without symptoms.That’s why the patient should be tested for the disease because the first sign might be a symptom for angina pectoris or heart attack.
Symptoms of angina pectoris:
*shortness of breath,dizziness,nausea,vomiting
*chest pain or discomfort that’s located in the center of the chest,under the breastbone and may spread down the left arm,or along the jaw line.The pain usually lasts between 30 seconds and 5 minutes.
Symptoms of heart attack:
*a feeling of “squeezing” in the chest
*dizziness,nausea,vomiting
*loss of consciousness
*sudden chest pain that can last 30 seconds or more,the pain is located in the center of the chest,under the breastbone and may spread down the left arm,or along the jaw line and even in the upper abdomen.
