Surround Yourself with Success
By: Healthy Wealthy nWise
Perhaps you've seen the popular film "Pass It On". Wish Entertainment, Inc. was the producer, and Greg Reid is a partner of the company. He is also the founder and CEO of Work Smart, Inc., and he is the author of "The Millionaire Mentor" and "The Millionaire Mentor Corporation".
With the "Millionaire Mentor" name, you might think Greg Reid only mentors people who are already millionaires, when in fact, nothing could be farther from the truth. Greg is living his passion by working with inner city kids in San Diego.
Mentoring others is something Greg has always done. His parents encouraged him to go to college, but he didn't even finish high school. He wanted to jump right into the business world, so after about two years in his first sales job, he sent his W2 home to his parents to prove that he could make $100,000 in a year just by doing what he loved to do.
Greg Reid created the "Success Equation", which looks like P T x A(squared) = Success, where "P" stands for passion, "T" stands for talent, and "A" stands for association. He defines passion as the activity you'd do if money didn't matter, talent as your natural ability, and association as those with whom you spend most of your time.
Spending most of your time with five people who are successful will give you an edge on success. You're more likely to become successful like they are. However, the opposite is also true. If you surround yourself with five people who aren't successful, chances are, you won't be successful either - at least not to the degree you're capable. Seek success in your field, and surround yourself with those people.
To quote Abraham Lincoln, "People are as happy as they make up their minds to be". Greg Reid is someone who has made up his mind to be happy. Not only does he live his life as cheerfully as possible, but he even shares the happy feeling with others in his "Always Good" website.
Mentors are all around us. Greg calls it the reticular activator system. You notice what's on your mind. If you're planning a wedding, suddenly it seems everyone you meet is getting married. If you buy a blue car, suddenly every car on the road is blue. It's not that everyone just bought a blue car. It's that you never really noticed before.
Make up your mind to do something, and your mentor won't be far behind you. Students need teachers, and your teacher may come in a variety of forms. It could be your neighbor, a book, a CD, a teleconference, or just about anything. Set your mind on what you love, and keep your eyes peeled. Success is at your doorstep.
