Crandon Park Public Beach

If a more public setting appeals to you, then the Crandon Park Public Beach is likely right up your sandy ally. This is a hotspot for local beach life, complete with restaurants and shops within walking distance of the beach. This particular spot is also one of the major launches for tours that include scuba diving and the always-exciting sport of snorkeling. In these you will go out to one of the many undersea wildlife preserves and dive into the depths exploring the miles of underwater sea life and lovely colored coral reef that is indigenous to the region. There is also a family amusement center within a few hundred yards. This could easily become a daylong visit, so bring your beach towels!

Haulover Beach and Park

Perhaps you are the more extreme and professional beachcomber. If this is you and you need a little more spice in your beachfront day, try Haulover Beach and park. This is one of the many local hotspots for the extreme surfing crowd. There is no worry if you didn't bring a board, as there are shops nearby to either buy or rent one. You can bring a picnic lunch along if you would like, as there are specific picnic areas complete with benches and grills for your use. If you are really looking for the freedom of the beach, the North end of Haulover Beach and Park is a clothing optional area.
