Simple Tips For Finding DJ Speaker Packages
By: Christopher Stigson
Becoming a DJ is harder than one think, because of expensive equipment. You need to understand that a DJ doesn't have just one or two pieces of equipment, but rather a whole assembly of components. This allows beginners, especially, to build their of DJ mix set and get components from different companies to suit their price needs.
The greatest margin on price can be made on the sound mixers. Sound mixers can have a great number of features; and so their prices may be as low as $200 and also as high as $2000. A DJ working within a limited budget can opt for a small mixer, which could easily be afforded at $200 to $500. These mixers can work just as fine as big ones and are ideal buys for amateur DJs. Even big names in the DJ equipment market such as Numark, Gemini, Aiwa, Akai, etc. produce such small economy speakers.
If you want to be great at mixing then you should go with turntables before DVD, CD or MP3 players. Yes, turntables are more expensive, but there are some quite affordable ones from companies such as Gemini at around $400. Getting faster playing records without lag usually requires direct drive turntables and is prefered over beltdriven ones by most DJ's.
Most players are much cheaper than any turntable, but they don't have any of the advanced features such as scratching or back-spinning. Since DJs mus play original records for players, they only get sound output like any CD or DVD and it cannot be altered.
If you want to get your equipment even cheaper then you may also want to shop around for affordable speaders. Prices of speakers highly depend on the output. Lower wattage speakers are cheaper. There are small woofer-type speaker at around $20 each that can output stereophonic sound.
Another way to reduce expenses is to buy all equipment in bulk as a DJ package. A package contains the basic components and the necessary peripherals like headphones. Buying a package entitles a DJ to a discount. Packages are available generally for the mixers. In most cases headphones are given free with the package.
Though it's not great to use cheap equipment for DJing, DJs with creativity and talent will very well do a good job with cheap stuff. Most likely, buyers of equipment are amateur DJs who are uncertain of the profession and just want to mix at home or trying to get a few beats together.
