Sick of Going to Bars? Then build your own
By: Linden Walhard
Few people have even considered having a bar in their own home, but people that do have one is completely different to everyone else! They really enjoy having fun, and what can be wrong with that? Unwinding with a chilled glass of margarita at home could quite possibly be the best way to spend your spare time.
More and more people are fitting bars in their own homes, rather than going out to the pub they can have a drink without even leaving the comfort of their own home. Many different home renovation projects include installing bars. Some have even started new projects just for the reason of installing a new bar.
Home Renovation Bars aren’t just for drinking
Before you start any building work you should make sure you understand everything.
Work out how often you entertain people. If you throw a lot of parties, say 3 or more a month with over 12 people attending each one then you could probably benefit from a home bar. Having a proper bar in your own home you wont have any problems when entertaining large numbers of people. You should carefully plan home basement renovation projects to include a bar. Make sure you include all of the separate elements that you want from a bar. It’s a great way to entertain cheaply because you won’t have to pay extortionate bar prices.
Light fixtures, furniture and plumbing can make or break any home bar. You can buy all of the necessary supplies at most popular home renovation stores. You can also buy some interesting fixtures and mouldings to make your bar more realistic. You can buy these products in specialist shops, or even certain hardware stores.
There are some things that you must be sure to buy when creating a home bar. Make sure you do not negotiate on the quality of these items as they are extremely important. Make sure you purchase high quality brands and materials to carry out these projects. Paying a little extra can ensure that these items last for as long as possible.
The top of the bar is a very important part of your bar. This will get the most use, and where you will be serving your drinks to your friends. Make sure you buy high quality surfaces as otherwise they might scratch or show signs of wear very easily. Using granite surfaces means that they will last for a very long time, you could also consider using wooden veneers as these are waterproofed.
After this you should consider the under bar part of your bar, even though you can’t see it it’s bound to get a lot of use. You need to make sure it is all constructed well so that it won’t fall apart. Make sure it has enough space available to store everything that you need to store. This is also an area where spills can occur; this means it’s very important to make sure there is adequate drainage.
Adding a bar to your home can be great fun, just don’t get too carried away!
