Rolling Stones - The World's Most Successful Concert Artists?
By: Antoine Brown
The music world will never be the same because of a group of five people who have wielded their powerful persona and energy in the music industry. Even up to the present, this group is still rocking the music world.
These five people are Mick Jagger, Keith Richards (on guitar), Ian Stewart (on piano), Charlie Watts (on the drums), and Bill Wayman. They comprise the popular group known as the Rolling Stones. The group has since produced 55 albums, 200 million copies of which have been sold all over the world.
What are the reasons for the Rolling Stones' popularity?
* In the 70s, pop music was the fashionable and popular musical genre. The Rolling Stones changed this with their classical fusion of Rock and Blues taking the music world by storm. As such, they are credited for revolutionizing the music industry at that time.
*The Rolling Stones' lead vocalist, Mick Jagger, has lent his voice to quite a number of albums that turned out to be worldwide sensations. The first was Berry's "Come on", which was released in the summer of 1963. The group's first foray into the musical world was a gig at the Marquee Club in London in 1962.
* Those who have become members of the Rolling Stones stayed with the group for two decades or more. Take, for instance, Keith Richards. He started with the group in 1963 by providing back-up vocals for Mick Jagger and playing lead guitar. He is around even now.
* Keith still plays guitar and provides back-up vocals for Mick. Long term relationships such as this have made it possible for the Rolling Stones keep their musical style over time.
Who are the band members of Rolling Stones?
Mick Jagger, of course, tops the list of the band members as lead vocalist of all the group's concerts. Keith Richards is a close second, as he plays guitar and provides vocal back-up for Mick. Keith has been with the group for over 45 years.
Completing the group are Ron Wood (handling guitar, pedal steel and lap steel) and Charlie Watts (handling drums and percussion). These two complete what is called the Big Four. The Big Four has stuck around for the last 33 years of the musical history of the popular musical group.
The class line-up of the big four may be one of the major reasons for their concert successes. The Rolling Stones exude an enduring magnetism that still is able to draw massive and frenetic crowds to their concerts.
