Parallels Between Christianity and Network Marketing
By: Lydia De Leon
If you understand Network Marketing (meaning, the genuine distribution business model based on relationship referral, not like all the money schemes out there), you will see it's spiritual side. The Christian faith and Network Marketing, are very similar.
For example:
1. If you want long term success in Network Marketing, there is no way to get around building relationships with your prospects and downline.
The people who are only interested in having large numbers of people in their businesses, are only interested in meeting their own needs and interests, not their prospects. They are only interested in making money, not helping others. If a person believes that you are truly trying to help them achieve their goals, they will stick with you.
2. Network Marketing is all about producing more of yourself, your time and your money.
In order to build a long term income, we must teach those in our organizations how to successfully build their businesses, so that they are growing and your business grows too. We cannot control whether or not they work, but we can teach them how to build their businesses and inspire them as well. Christianity too, is all about gaining the maximum effectiveness out of our time and resources.
Jesus was the Master and he leveraged his time by teaching his disciples to go out and create more disciples.
Isn't that the work we're doing in our organizations?
Finding some competent workers and teaching them how to bring other workers into their businesses and continuing this process over and over in our businesses. By providing your downline with good training and skills, your work is divided among many and your business grows very quickly.
We create an environment where others become teachers also, and as a consequence, our time is freed up as more and more people in our downlines take on more and more responsibilities.
Teaching requires being in tune with your downline's needs so that you can fill in that gap. What is the main problem they are having in growing their business? Help them succeed. Isn't that what Jesus does with his followers? He meets his followers needs by teaching them and providing everything they need in his word (spiritual food) to live the holy life he wants them to live.
The church also is like this - people go there to learn more about God, to get trained in how to live the holy life in all areas of their lives and for friendship and encouragement.
Because we brought them into the business, we should make sure that they are receiving excellent training to help them build their business. Even more, they need a place of like-minded people, so that they are motivated, inspired and encouraged in their businesses as well as celebrated and applauded for their achievements.
By doing these things for them, it prospers their businesses, but also, it helps prosper our businesses too. Like it's been said before, "we succeed when we help others succeed."
3. If deep down, you honestly want to create a stable six figure income, with Network Marketing, then it is essential that you have faith and patience as you travel down this road.
Many Network Marketers fail in their home based businesses because they can't handle the rejection that comes along with the package. When they don't see immediate results, they hop to another opportunity or quit altogether.
In order to create a prosperous business in Network Marketing, one needs to believe in the process and scatter lots of patience on it as it springs up and grows.
So how does all this relate to Network Marketing having a spiritual component to it?
First, the mark of the Christian Faith is about serving others and truly helping them prosper. It's not about deceiving people so that I get what I want.
Of course in Network Marketing we are working to create an income for ourselves, but we have to go about it with the right attitude and spirit. I like to call it servanthood marketing.
If making money is the only reason we are in Network Marketing, then that will show in how we bahave and how we come across to our prospects and downlines. People know when we truly want to help them be successful.
Second, even Jesus asked for assistance with reaching the lost with the gospel. He created a team of twelve men and equipped them with everything they needed so that they could bring others in and become followers of Jesus.
Because those twelve men took the message to the world, lived as Jesus taught them and taught others how to follow Jesus too, the gospel has spread like a virus and is known throughout the whole world.
There's no difference with Network Marketing. Recruiting 100 people is not necessary to build a large business. If we use wisdom in selecting 5 - 10 people to work closely with, they will all learn the same things and they will teach others how to do the same things so that eventually, we will see movement and growth in our organizations.
Creating leadership and multiplying that leadership throughout our organizations just as Jesus did with his twelve leaders is what it's all about.
Third, Napoleon Hill and Jesus taught a similar principle which is "you could move mountains if you had faith as small as a mustard seed". There are many books written about the importance of thinking positively.
It's very unlikely that we will have any success in Network Marketing if we are thinking negatively. Thinking positively will help you achieve great things. Negative thinking will only destroy your vision and keep you in the rut.
I can continue to enumerate the many similarities between Network Marketing and Christianity, but it would take a book to finish it all.
The bottom line is this: We can't build a Network Marketing business all by ourselves. Building lasting relationships, treating others as we would like to be treated and being honest in our business is what it's all about. It's about being the best that we can be and growing up.
It's impossible to grow a successful Network Marketing business without the proper mindset, self-discipline and training. There are no plateau's either. We are constantly being challenged to higher and higher ground!
