Menstrual Cramps : Menstrual Cramp Relief Options
By: Ray Lam
As a woman reaches that difficult stage in her life she may be forgiven in believing that her body is out to get her. If it is not the night sweats it is the mood swings and not to mention menstrual cramps. If you have endometriosis, or PCOS (which affects around 10 percent of women) you may get these worse than other women. There are a few women that seem to suffer no pain at all, whereas many have them so bad they can barely get out of bed for days during their cycle.
If you are one of those unfortunate enough to suffer this then perhaps it is time you looked at some form of menstrual cramp relief you know will work every month. The most obvious answer is to take one in pill form which also seems to be the most common method. You can try any pain relief remedy and they should work but many women swear by Pamprin which was designed just for this reason. Even if you don't like taking pain medication and have always steered clear of pain relief, this may be a time to reconsider.
Perhaps you feel that you're meant to experience this stomach pain but that isn't the case. To make matters worse, the cramps are only part of the problem if you are one of those individuals who also has to put up with nausea and a constant bloated feeling. On a personal level, I was just tired of the cramping pains and decided to source an effective menstrual cramp relief solution. There were times I thought my stomach was being crushed whilst others there was little discomfort at all!
Recently I started using a heat pad which a friend suggested I try and has worked with some success at easing the discomfort although I do have to vary where I place it for effectiveness; sometimes on my stomach and other times on my back. Many women that try this method are those that just prefer not to take any form of oral medication. When you have painful and long lasting menstrual cramps each month, you may have to take more action. Where this is causing a problem with attending work each cycle, you may forced into finding something to help before you find yourself seeking other employment
If this has happened to you, you should make an appointment to talk to your doctor about finding menstrual cramp relief. Your doctor may suggest using the contraceptive pill because he knows just how good it is at helping women who suffer each month with stomach cramps. If you are trying to get pregnant this will obviously be out of the question but this is not the only remedy your doctor will discuss with you. Good luck with your search for a way to ease those regular painful cramps.
