Melaleuca's "Sharing" Sales Tactic

By: Diane Voisley

Sharing is not selling! Sadly, many Melaleuca distributors are being taught to look at selling in a way that ultimately damages their business. They are led to believe that they are not selling and by default aren't taught to take their business seriously enough to sell. What kind of business doesn't sell products? Distributors are led to believe that they are "sharing" their products and their business opportunity. Unfortunately, "sharing" rarely brings in the same results that "selling" does because "sharing" is for play.

If a Melaleuca distributor believes that they can become a success without selling, they are seriously mistaken. Any successful business owner will tell you that selling is an integral part of any business and it should be the focus. So why are there so many people who want to avoid selling? It's because the methods of selling that are being taught by most MLMs are outdated and ineffective.

The main reason people buy products and services is because it is the answer for a problem they have. One real problem with Melaleuca's "sharing" concept is that there is not enough emphasis on demonstrating or talking about the product. Potential clients don't know of a product's benefits and as a result, won't make a purchase because they don't see it as being an answer for their problem. What distributors need to do is find a need that their prospect might have and then fill it with their product.

Here's another half-truth that goes hand in hand with the "sharing" concept - that the products will sell themselves. Lies upon lies leads distributors down a path where they believe that they don't have to be accountable for the success of their business. Think about it. Distributors are being taught that they don't have to sell and that the Melaleuca products will sell themselves! If that's the case, why would Melaleuca distributors really be necessary? Distributors have to be taught that they are the reason their business succeeds. They have to understand that their efforts are the reason that their Melaleuca business forges ahead.

A website is one of the primary ways to bring in qualified leads for your Melaleuca, Inc. business opportunity. Your website should have an information capture system that obtains the names and contact information of the leads you have. You should also be using an auto-responder to automate your business so that it operates 24 / 7. Once you have all of that in place, it's time to work on the bait that lures your prospects into your website. The bait is typically, ads such as pay-per-click, articles, promotional e-books, and things of that nature. Once you start using your bait, you'll find that there will be more and more visitors to your website!

Qualifying your leads is not a difficult process. You'll use a hook so that your prospect gets interested in your business. Typically, good hooks are articles and free e-books. They have a powerful title or headline that grabs the reader's attention and compels them to read the information they got their hands on. The next step is to show a clear path of action for your prospect to take.

Here's what a sample path of action looks like. You'll use an article that grabs the reader's attention so that they are hooked into the article. The article then describes how wonderful the product or business opportunity is for them. The prospects will read all about benefits and features of being a distributor. At the end of the article, you can include a link that will take them to Melaleuca.com to place an order.

As you can see, having a growing Melaleuca business will take some work, but it will be well worth it. As you find more ways to bring prospects to your business you'll find that it gets easier to share your products and business opportunity with people who know what they are doing. Get started on building your Melaleuca business today!
