Liposuction: Effects of Liposuction

By: Raymond JW

Liposuction is most effective at removing localized fat deposits in body areas that do not respond to dieting or exercising; it is most often used when other methods cannot treat it, from areas including the abdomen, bottom and thighs. However, there is a strange and unexpected side effect where the fat can return; often ths occurs in a different area from where it was first removed.

The two most common methods to get rid of it are the tumescent technique and Ultrasonic. Tumescent is one of the latest advances in this type of treatment which is now is one now of the most commonly performed cosmetic surgeries in the USA.

The tube used is much smaller and this also helps lessen the bruising which normally means a longer recovery period. Tumescent liposuction technique is proved to cause less pain, bruising and swelling after surgery, hence shortening the postoperative recovery period.

With Ultrasonic liposuction it is also possible to remove fat from difficult areas such as the upper abdomen, flanks, hip and back.

The problem with the conventional treatment is the surgeon has trouble seeing where the probe is located in the body so it is possible for internal organs to be damaged if extreme care is not taken. The best thing to do is to consult with a surgeon to choose the most suitable technique for your body.

As with any type of medical procedure, liposuction does have some risk attached although professional cosmetic surgeons take great care of their patients. To help reduce this risk, physical examinations are necessary for all subjects to make sure that every individual is healthy enough for the procedure to go ahead. To ensure infections do not occur after treatment, cosmetic surgeons prescribe antibiotics to patients and re-iterate the importance of keeping wounds clean. As time has passed, a great deal has been learned and techniques improved.

To treat cellulite and bumpy skin, another form of liposuction is used called Lipo Dissolve which uses the application of a number of small needles to remove the fat, dissolving it during the process. Lipo Dissolve can also be administered in combination with any other non-surgical skin treatment and does not require any anesthesia since it is virtually painless.
