Link Building -- Ways That Guarantee Results
By: Chimezirim Gabriel Odimba
You can't really be serious about getting massive free traffic from the search engines if you do NOT appear on the first page of search results. And how do you rank high for your chosen keywords?
There are many things you have to do like ensuring you have the right density of keywords on your page, having your keywords in your meta description tag, title, images and so on. However, of all known steps to high ranking, building your link popularity is the most important. Here are tops ways to get high quality links...
1. Write and submit high quality articles to article directories. This is certainly the most cost effective way of building link popularity.
Why I personally use article marketing as my preferred way of building links is that I have total control on how the links to my site are formatted. With this level of control, I can decide and affect which key phrases I rank for.
There used to be a time when links from a few articles would do. Not any more. You need to get into the habit of submitting at least one high quality article to as many article directories as make sense each week.
That said, you'll NOT get the results this strategy typically give if you submit the exact same version of your article to many directories. You need to have a unique version for each instance. Thankfully, there are tools and services that make it easy for you to spin unique versions and submit them to hundreds of article directories.
2. Start blogging on similar themes to your main website niche. All you'll then do is link to your site each time you make a post.
Lack of money is certainly NOT an excuse to postpone starting your own blog. You only need to have what you want to say. Just make sure it's some useful and relevant to your theme. You can start within a few minutes for free at either blogger.com or wordpress.com.
If you do NOT have the time or inclination to start a blog, you can still build great links from other people's blogs. All you have to do is look for blogs that "DO FOLLOW" and post useful comments with a link back to your site.
3. Have you heard of sites like digg.com? You've probably used them. You can build links to your site by bookmarking your articles on these sites. You'll also do well to make it easy for your site visitors to easily bookmark them.
Furthermore, it makes saving and sharing your content a lot easier. With so many social bookmarking sites out there, you can get high quality links to your site since most of them are sites that are highly respected by Google.
4. Submit your site to web directories. Some will review your site for free and include you if you meet their standards. Others will charge a fee.
If you must submit your site to only one directory, then make it Dmoz.org. A link from this site is worth a lot. However, you'll do yourself much good by submitting to as many web directories as will give you a rank boost (And they are many).
Do NOT limit yourself to just the big directories. Search in your niche. Although niche directories might NOT have very high page rank, their links are very useful because they are theme-focused.
There are services and software that will help you submit your site to many directories. Depending on the demand on your time, this may be a very viable option.
5. Forum posting is one great way of getting high quality links to your site. For your own good, make sure you post useful comments and articles with a link back to your site. Spamming forums won't help you.
The methods discussed are NOT the only ways to get links back to your site. However, they are some of the most cost effective. If you implement all of them diligently, you'll soon start getting oodles of free high quality traffic.
