Keeping Your Chompers In Good Shape
By: Aazdak Alisimo
They say the eyes are the path to the soul of a person. Well, it can also be said that the health of our mouths is the path to an indication of our overall health. If we have healthy teeth and gums, we tend to have healthy bodies.
Your dental health is vital to your overall health and enjoyment of life. If you've every busted a tooth or had a toothache, you know I am not lying. They can be crippling. Here is some advice on keeping those chompers in good shape.
Did You Know - Good dental health can reduce you risk of having a premature baby.
Brush Twice A Day - Brush your teeth twice a day with a fluoride toothpaste.
Premolar Teeth - The Premolars are located just behind your Canine teeth. Premolars have a more flat chewing surface because they're meant for crushing food.
Braces and Precautions - When you are wearing braces you need to steer clear of sticky, gooey foods as well as hard foods. Why? These foods can pull off or break your braces.
What is the best mouthrinse? - Anticavity rinses with fluoride have been clinically proven to fight up to 50% more of the bacteria that cause cavities.
Fillings That Fall Out - The cavity is contaminated with saliva when the filling is placed, For composite resins, this will disrupt the bonding of the material. If the bond is not strong enough, the filling can fall out.
Cracked Fillings - Both amalgam and composite fillings can crack, either soon after they are placed or after the filling have been in place for some time.
Should I use a rinse - Most rinses are, at the very least, effective oral antiseptics that freshen the mouth and curb bad breath for up to three hours. Their success in preventing tooth decay, gingivitis and periodontal disease is limited, however.
Why Replace a Filling? - Fillings don't last forever. A filling that is cracked or leaking can allow food debris and bacteria to seep down under the filling.
Toothache Relief Tip - A toothache often does not mean a cavity. Instead, food can be trapped between the teeth. As painful as it may sound, try flossing the affected area.
Poor dental maintenance will result in massive problems for you. The problems will never arise when you have time to deal with them. At the worst possible moment, OW! Take the time to visit your dentist now so you don't have to later.
