Folding Table Tops - What Design To Choose

So many designs to choose from, no time to study them? Here is an overview of the different folding table designs that are available.

Here are the four main options:

a Polyethylene Moulded

pros: Durable, very light, UV resistant, impermiable, low cost

cons: Can burn, reacts to heat, not many finish options

b ABS Plastic

pros: Light, tough, water resistant, wipe-clean, good range of finish options

cons: Not heat resistant, not fire resistant, expensive

c Aluminum

pros: Fireproof, strong

cons: Expensive, heavy

d MDF or Chipboard

pros: Good range of finishes, cheap

cons: Very heavy, poor durability

The choice is yours, but the vast majority of folding tables are now blow moulded polyethylene, because they are cheap to manufacture and very durable.

But even within a single design, there are lots of differences between products from different suppliers. The easiest way to tell between them in in the quality of guarantee. If the guarantee is a "manufacturers warranty" you know that they have worries about them falling apart due to being mishandled.
