Some cities have hair salons on almost every corner. How do you find the right salon for you? This can be a daunting task. That's one of the reasons you will hear women ask other women this question "Who does your hair?" When you see someone wearing a hair style that is similar to the way you want your hair done, it's natural to want to go to the same stylist. Let's face it, sometimes it's not the salon that makes the difference as much as it is the stylist or hair artist.
Most privately owned salons are usually established by a successful stylist. As word spreads about a particular stylist, the clientle list increases to such a point that the hair artist decides to open his or her own salon. So obviously, word of mouth is very important. A personal recommendation goes a long way in building a salon's or a stylist's reputation.
Word of mouth is the best way to find a hair salon or stylist, but, what if you don't know anyone? How do you find the right salon then? Walk up and down the street until you see a cute hair style, stop them, and ask them where they get their hair done? Look up salons in the yellow pages? To ask someone on the street would be bold, if you have the time to find that person. The yellow book will give you a listing of the salons, but not information from the clients they service to let you know they are a quality salon.
There is another way. The World Wide Web. The same place you found this article. Salon directories can provide a wealth of information on salons in the area. You can search by zip code, city, services, rating and price range. Others have tried the salon and the stylist that are employed there, and can give a review and a rating of the salon and the stylist. This gives you personal recommendations at your fingertips. New to an area or just visiting this could be the best option in finding the right stylist for you.
