Exploring the Unknown with Curiosity
By: Kenrick Cleveland
We are born ready to suck up as much information as we possibly can. The world around us is an endless source of fascination and curiosity. And as we grow, and if we have our base needs met, we soon come to the point of requiring more--the process of self-actualization.
Learning. Curiosity. Creativity. Knowledge.
If you've gotten to the point where you yearn to stretch your boundaries and expand your intellect through persuasion, my feeling is that you've likely got your base needs met.
Persuasion is about much more than selling something. As you begin to understand what I tell you next, and as you begin to discover that persuasion is really another term for human nature--you will grow by leaps and bounds.
Persuasion can be used in all facets of our lives--parenting, business, relationships, and can naturally be applied to turn 'setbacks' into 'challenges'.
Engaging in the world through the frame of persuasion opens doors, frees us from limitations and gives us back control of our lives.
We are explorers: persuasion pioneers, on the frontiers of human nature.
My students and clients already understand what I'm describing here, but if you are new to this the power surge, the intense feeling you will get once you realize how powerful persuasion is, will skyrocket you to new levels of confidence and opportunity.
Scientists know all about DNA now. It's all mapped out. They understand its strains.
What does it tell us? It tells us that we are very, very predictable organisms. For my taste, it makes things a bit too predictable, too mathematical. All of us - our lives, drives, inner selves, dreams, even how successful we'll be - can be mapped out.
I don't particularly like the thought of that, personally, because I always thought I was more complex than that. But even that need of mine - the need to feel different, or special, or whatever it is - can be mapped out.
As persuasion pioneers, this information is invaluable. The predictability of human nature is absolute gold. It's the key to selling anything to anybody, anytime.
In terms of selling to the affluent there is a very different trigger than selling to others, perhaps this is a result of their heightened ability to acquire. Once we get their criteria, we can combine it with predictable patterns of the affluent.
Combining that with our agenda, our product, or our service results in an alchemy of persuasion, almost impossible to resist.
Once I began focusing persuasion instead of sales training, I discovered unfolding insights everyday. These insights have been instrumental in helping me to find my life's purpose and to feel in control of my life instead of feeling like I'm just being swept along the river of life. You can have this enlightened feeling too.
It's my pleasure and joy to lead this exploration of curiosity and learning and mapping out the persuasion universe with my students and clients.
