You have many possibilities to start a home business online, and email marketing is no doubt a good alternative. With the speed and ease of online communication, e-mail marketing has become a golden opportunity for businesses large and small. If you are serious about your home business, this isn't a trend you can afford to miss out on.

What is Email Marketing?

Email marketing means marketing through email. It means to send out links to website, sales letters or newsletters to your customers or potential customers using your email to do so. You normally have to create a whole campaign and need to sign up to avoid spam. The best way to do this is a double confirmation, which means your customers sign up on the squeeze page if they are interested and then receive an automatic email, which they click on to confirm they want to join your mailing list. You should provide a link at the bottom of this email offering an unsubscribe option and a statement at the top reminding them that they signed up on your website.

1-Build a List

This is important because the best email marketing campaign in the world won't do anyone any good if you don't have anyone to send it to. Create a squeeze page that will grab your visitors' interest, pique their curiosity and make them click. Write very persuasive copy to draw in your visitors, offer up a free report, email course or ebook (related to the topic), and build your list. I‘ve been playing this way and I must tell you, the response has been positive indeed, people love freebies! Don't be afraid to use bullet points to get right to the point, and don't forget to put a box and tell them exactly what to do: "enter your name and email address below to get your free 6 day email course", (or free report or ebook...).

2- Talking Time

When you have their contact details, you need to write your campaign. A good email marketing campaign makes use of conversational, friendly yet professional sounding emails. You need to convince them that your product or website is of high quality and gain their trust and approval.

3- Offer a Reward

If you offer them a free gift, this can help greatly. Perhaps, offer something for free with their first purchase or with their third. A free gift with their first buy encourages them to buy something in the first place. A free gift with a later purchase rewards their loyalty and repeat business.

4-Wait

Be careful not to over blast them with too many emails, take your time and send one out every now and then to let them know about upcoming promotions. After you let them know of the promotion then a few days later send another email giving them a chance for a deal with a special price.

5-Remind Them Special Dates

You can also remind your customers special dates: a week before Valentine's Day, you can ask whether or not your customers remembered to get something for that special someone, and offer them a link to visit a special offer in your site.

Conclusion

It will take time but eventually you should have a good list, perhaps up to 1000 customers or even more. If you build your email marketing campaign in a good way, keeping the customers informed and interested without flooding them with too much information, you should be successful. Too many emails is a bad idea but the occasional reminder or special offer works well.
