Choose Between Cellular Phone Plans

By: Tom Slater

A large number of cellular phone plans today can be confusing for consumers. Various rates, offers, calling areas and rentals can all confuse a new customer. Deciding what is the best product can be a difficult issue, making cell phone purchases more complex than buying any other product.

One of the most important issues to decide upon when choosing a cell phone service provider is whether or not they offer good solid coverage in your area. This is almost always the biggest concern for many people. Most plan marketing materials have a map showing the coverage area. While some carriers have placed maps on their website that will show a street level view of the coverage for a particular zip code.

The monthly rate plan selected must be within the budget for the user. In some cases, the number of phones that can be added to a phone rate plan is important, while in others, the price per minute and included minutes or features could be more important.

As a customer, deciding upon a plan involves careful reading of the materials provided by the cellular service provider and comparing it with other service providers details.

More readily available plans such as the 'pay as you go' and hybrid plans are also extremely popular. In most plans, phone users are rewarded with lower monthly rates if they can decide on the minutes of usage each month and buy them in a bulk.

Many customers consider a pre-paid plan the way to go, as pre-paid plans helps limit spending on cell phone calls. Parents usually purchase pre-paid plans for their teenagers so that their usage and expense can be tracked. If some one is a high end user, cell phone providers will offer more value for the money by packing in more minutes for a monthly, or even yearly commitment.

Most national cellular phone plans are attractive to business travelers. Users who make business calls and who require calling nationally, benefit from national calling plans and consider them to be the best cellular plans for the money.

When rolling out a cellular phone plan, cell phone carriers conduct a market analysis and attempt to understand what users need and want from their companies. Other than the cost, almost all plans offer add on services, such as voice mail and caller ID.

Even though you may have decided upon a specific monthly plan, there are always friends, family members and colleagues giving advise on what the best cell phone rate plan is. As a consumer always keep in mind that what may be best for one person may not be best for another. There is no way to calculate what the best cellular phone plan is; the truth is that it varies depending on individual users needs.
