Cellular Phones

Cell phones have had a longer history then the radio. Back in 1920, the cell phones started and the radios weren't used until 1921. Of course, some of the features of the cell phone were utilized as far back as the 1940s. Those radios were used by the police.

The mobile car phone was developed as the idea of the cellular phone in 1947. Bell Laboratories developed the idea or concept of the cellular phone. Cells for mobile phone stations were developed to. Russell Ohl developed a device that electrical energy was converted from light energy. A buzzing hornet sound came when trying to eavesdrop on a conversation and therefore teh name Green Hornet was given to the prototype. Taxicabs and police cars has a long history or two-way radios form Motorola. The year of 1973 was the invention of the actual cell phone. Martin Cooper and assisting inventers are given the credit. "Radio telephone system" is what is was known as.

In April 3, 1973, Cooper was the first person to make a call on a portable cell phone on to the amazement of the people walking on a New York City street. That first call was made on the first Motorola DynaTAC prototype to the head of research, Joel Engel, of the AT&T Bell Lab. This caused the technology and communications market to shift away from the place and toward the person. Cooper's vision for personal wireless communications was born.

In Chicago 1978, the first commercial cellular network using the AMPS (Advanced Mobile System) was introduced. The mobile phone was known as analog. In North America the analog mobile phone system became the one used and ans is still widely available but to various digital standards being introduced is has become less desired.

The public was introduces to the large and expensive cellphone in 1984 when it made its presence. Towers war built by the cooperation of AT&T and the FCC. Something know as a "cell" or an area was created by the towers and covered a few miles. What was great was that the towers were able to transfer calls from each other.

Today worldwide the GPS cell phone is being known.
