Austin Dinosaur Park

By: Juble.com

Before modern man walked the Texas hills, valleys, and deserts, the creatures that called this massive state home were huge, scaly, reptilian, and big enough to swallow the average cowboy in one gulp. Still, regardless of their overwhelmingly terrifying visage and size, these monstrous carnivores have somehow managed to be a favorite attraction for younger children. All the theme parks and water slides aside, little kids seem to be drawn to the dinosaurs over all other things. With that in mind, the scenic city of Austin Texas takes great pride in offering family vacationers the unparalleled adventure of Dinosaur Park.

The Dinosaur Park is the perfect family adventure if your clan consists of younger children, usually between the ages of three to twelve years old. It is, bar none, as close to a real dinosaur experience that anyone in this day and age could ever experience. There are a number of exciting things to do and see in this park, but by far the most exciting is that of the Dinosaur Trail. Here you will walk along a trail through a wilderness that is a recreation of the forests one would have walked through before the ice age. Along the trail, evenly spaced, are dozens of life sized authentic reproductions of many different species of dinosaur life. These reproductions are so realistic that one would almost expect them to begin moving about. There are the dreaded Velociraptors, Stegosaurus', Iguanodon, Protoceratops, and the ever-popular Tyrannosaurus Rex, to name a few.

Then, to teach your children the ins and outs of archaeology, there is the DinoDig. In this attraction, you and your children will be given a pail and a shovel and shown to the DinoDig area. Here, you will dig through the sand searching for fossils. The best part is that when you find them, they are not toys. You actually find real fossilized remains of ancient Dinosaurs! If you get really lucky, you might just be fortunate enough to come across one of the rare shark teeth buried here! This is a great way to get your child interested in the career possibility of archaeology.

This is just the tip of the evolutional ladder in fun things to do and see at the Dinosaur Park. You can also have a picnic while you are here. All that you have to provide is the picnic basket and the food. There are a number of beautiful picnic areas all throughout the Dinosaur Park, complete with picnic tables.

Though the sheer memory of this trip will stick with your and your children for years to come, be sure to bring a camera as the Dinosaur Park offers hundreds of great photo opportunities. There is even one where your child can get his or her picture taken with their head in the mouth of a Tyrannosaurus Rex!

If your vacation time is one that is family oriented in nature, make sure that your children have a great time this year at the paws of nature's oldest creatures at Dinosaur Park in scenic Austin Texas.
