A: Do business with Merchant's that are willing to compensate you fairly. I really don't want to deal with anyone that isn't going to pay me at least half. Hey, they might have a great product, but if it wasn't for you getting the targeted prospects to their site, they wouldn't be in business. You're worth a lot to them and you should be paid accordingly.
So make sure you know what you're worth to a Merchant. They need you more than you need them. When you deal with great programs, they will usually pay even a higher percentage of the sale.
B: Are they reputable, do what they say, and pay out when they say they will? Good affiliate programs will pay you on time and on a consistent time interval such as monthly or bi-monthly.
Also be aware of minimum requirements to getting paid. Some companies require you to accumulate a minimum commission base before they cut a check.
So if you don't think you can consistently meet their requirements, pass it up and look for another program. It doesn't make sense to make some sales and never see that commission because of these rules.
C: Does the customer service meet your expectations?
Even though you just market to others, you do represent their company and product. Their reputation, either good or bad, will effect your business. It's critical that they run their business in a way that looks good on you.
An important step you need to take even before you decide to promote a product is check out the company thoroughly. Buy a product and see how the transaction goes. Evaluate it and see if you really like what you will be promoting to others. Then return it and see how they treat you as as an unsatisfied customer. Know what people will go through with this company. Make sure you feel good about them before doing business with them.
2-Build an opt in mailing list
This one task, if done the right way, can really increase affiliate marketing sales.
Why do I say that?
An email subscriber list will be a source of consistent affiliate marketing sales with higher than normal conversion rates.
Put forth the effort to build a quality list of subscribers who trust and respect you. By doing this, you will make a lot of affiliate marketing sales to your list over and over again.
I can't really talk about all that is involved on this topic, so I'll give you a brief overview of what it takes to build a list.
A: Write or have written quality information in the form of a report or mini-course. If it is on a hot topic or solves a lot of peoples problems, people will want to know about it
B: Make a subscriber sign up page, so they can receive your information in exchange for their name and email address.
C: Deliver relevant useful information to your subscribers and they will trust you and want to stay on your list.
D: Have the intent of continually helping those on your list. Give then content they can use and also mix in offers to your list. As your prospects learn to trust you, they will feel comfortable buying from you when you send them recommendations for products and services.
3- Ask the affiliate program for a better piece of the profit.
Ask the merchant for a greater portion of the sale of the affiliate marketing sales. I'm sure they don't want to lose you as as an affiliate so they might agree and you might just be able to make more with each sale.
