7 Things to Do Right Now for Aging Skin
By: Lana Robinson
It's a fact: More than 90% of the visible signs of aging can be avoided and people are looking for a way to regain 100% of their youthful beauty and feel great. So, when you start looking for a skin care product that will, in fact, drastically reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, then you must acquaint yourself with the ingredients used in anti aging products.
1. Find a product with free radical fighting antioxidant vitamins. Everything you put onto your skin is absorbed into your skin. So, doesn't it make sense to use a product that has antioxidants? Of course it does! These antioxidants will penetrate deep into your skin to protect, condition, and adjust to your skins' specific needs. Products with Alpha Lipoic Acid are good, as this is a very powerful antioxidant that penetrates your skin quickly and absorbs into the skin cells to incress cell metabolism. As your cells rebuild themselves, you will have luxurious, luminous skin with a healthy glow. Research shows that anti aging creams that do not have antioxidants do not work as effectively as those that contain it. An antioxidant's main function is to combat free radicals which are naturally produced by our body. It is this free radical's unstable oxygen that damage healthy skin and an anti aging product with antioxidant can help prevent this damage and keep free radicals at bay.
2. Find a product that also has Vitamin C. Not just any form of Vitamin C... Magnesium Ascorbyl Phospate; this is a biologically-active form of Vitamin C that promotes collagen, elastin and the strengty and elasticity of the skin.
3. Anti Aging skin care should also contain skin protectants and moisturizers. Contrary to popular belief, even if you have oily skin, you still need a moisturizer! There are a lot of really good moisturizers on the market today; but make sure you get a plant-derived moisturizer so that the appearance of your skin's epidermal lipid layer is drastically improved. Using a moisturizer with mineral oil or alcohol isn't going to give you the maximum benefit for your money. You need a moisturizer that also minimizes transdermal water loss (while sleeping) as well as a seperate moisturizer to wear during the day... preferably one with SPF 8 or higher.
4. If you have long-term sun damage and environmental damage, you may want to use a product with a natural skin lightening agent. Age spots and dark undereye circles can be remedied quickly using products a natural lightener like Kojic Acid.
5. An element that visibly smoothes, softens and firms the skin is Copper. Basically, this element helps reduce the appearance of fine lines while promoting younger looking skin.
6. Another ingredient that activates healthy cells while diminishing the appearance of the fine lines and wrinkles are Alpha & Beta Hydroxy Acids. The main benefits of alpha hydroxy acids come from their ability to exfoliate skin. The removal of the outermost layer of the skin stimulates the cells in lower layers to grow and divide, causing the skin to thicken and thus diminishing visible signs of aging. Alpha hydroxy acids are water soluble only, while beta hydroxy acid is lipid (oil) soluble. This means that beta hydroxy acid is able to penetrate into the pore which contains sebum and exfoliate the dead skin cells that are built up inside the pore.
7. To improve your skin's roughness and to further lessen the appearance of wrinkle volume and wrinkle depth, find a product that also contains Peptides. Numerous studies show that penta-peptides and copper peptides heal wounds, so, of course, they can "heal" aging skin.
Using an anti aging skin care product with these ingredients, you can enjoy:
• 117% Increase in Collagen type I, the most abundant collagen of the human body.
• 327% Increase in Collagen type IV, which is found primarily in the basal lamina.
• 287% Increase in Glycosaminoglycans, which are a family of sulfated sugar chains that play important roles in neuronal communication by binding to different proteins.
